Today I have another French poem for you! This time it’s a longer one, and it comes from the last chapter of Vol. 1, which is called “Ancient Poetry”! Today’s poem is entitled “Dance”, and in French that’s “La danse”.

It comes from my debut poetry book ‘Once Upon a Time There Were Two Poetry Books…’. In French it’s ‘Il était deux volumes de poésie…’.

So, at first, the English Version!

Dance

I’m going out on stage,

It’s a new book page.

Everybody’s looking at me.

This is how it’s supposed to be.

*

I’ve started to dance.

I’ve started this romance

Of hope and tiredness.

They will be amazed.

*

I believe I won’t make a mistake.

Maybe someone won’t be able to take it.

I will confuse them. I will survive.

After the passion will come the revive.

*

Let’s jump. This is how it goes.

The moment of progress comes.

Just a few more turnovers and steps.

My performance slowly ends.

*

It’s the moment of victory.

It’s a new life memory.

It’s a great pleasure and honour

And to the fear said ‘no more’.

*

And now I can show you a very fresh French translation! You’ll probably notice it sounds a bit different in two languages! That’s because I decided to keep the Polish meaning, and in that way, the rhymes got lost a bit…

So, here it is!

La danse

Je suis sur scène,

Je me sens inspirée.

Tout le monde me regarde.

Un murmure se précipite.

*

J’ai commencé à danser.

Il est temps de se battre,

Avec moi-même et la fatigue,

Avec la flamme d’espoir.

*

Je crois que je ne ferai pas d’erreur.

Peut-être je confondrai quelqu’un.

Le prix est à portée de main.

Je survis à ces calvaire.

*

Encore quelques tours et étapes.

S’approche de la finale – quelques sauts…

C’est la fin de ma performance.

C’est un moment de progrès.

Voici ce moment,

Un nouveau mile de ma vie.

Grand honneur – le concours est gagné.

La peur bannie pour toujours.
