I saw the exposition entitled ‘Saxon Visions. The Architecture of Power’ at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Poland, last Wednesday, and today I’d like to share my thoughts on this subject.

The castle that we know today was actually created in the 18th century. I mean the renovation from that time. I always knew about it, but I hadn’t known that Saxon kings were responsible for this change. And that original castle was standing until 1944… That’s why I thought it was interesting, and I really wanted to see this temporary exhibition!
When some kings don’t have real power anymore… They want to show it through architecture! And the Royal Castle in Warsaw that you can see today is the best example of it! I especially recommend seeing gardens… Because this elevation from the riverside is what kind of castle renovation we talk about in here!
I found out about Saxon Wing, too, and I have never heard of it before! It wasn’t rebuilt after the war, and thanks to it, the square in front of the castle is a bit bigger now than before.
I also recommend to learn languages! There were a lot of architectural plans for the castle renovation from the 18th century. Some were created in German, other in French, and one was even Italian! I’m glad I know these languages a bit, and thanks to them, I could learn even more!
The last thing that I need to say is about my book ‘Great Lady’s Diary’ that I am writing these days (even today!). I also fought some inspiration out there! I mean, this exposition literally made me stand in the middle of one of those rooms and make notes…
This exhibition is unfortunately closed now, so you can’t see it, but I still recommend seeing the Royal Castle in Warsaw!
That’s all for today, and I’m coming back with the new podcast episode tomorrow!
Love, A.A.
