I went to the Polish History Museum last Saturday and saw the exhibition there about the first coronation in Polish history that took place exactly 1000 years ago. Crazy, I know!

The exposition ‘1025. The Birth of a Kingdom’ is open until only 29th June 2025. So, if you want to learn more about life from 1000 years ago… You really need to hurry!

So, yeah. It was about… Life in the first place. We can find out about animals, plants, forests, rivers, medicine, culture, religion, or art there. Also, I think it was the first exposition where you can smell objects, touch, and hear sounds that take you back to the 11th century… Honestly, it was fascinating!

Did you know that not only were medieval people smaller than now, but also animals…?

Also, it was the celebration of the first coronation of the first Polish king from the Piast dynasty. He’s name was Bolesław the Bold (Chrobry). But it was also about two other kings who wore the crown after him. And well… We don’t really know what this crown looked like!

Why this moment in history was important? I believe it helped Poland to survive for these 1000 years, but it’s also true that coronation doesn’t guarantee anything… And there are many examples in history!

If you feel like you want to learn more about the oldest Polish history, then I also recommend going to cities like Poznań or Gniezno. It’s literally where it all began…
