About Zakopane & Kraków, pt. 2

The last part of my September trip was sightseeing Kraków once again. I came back to the Kościuszko Mound, and this last post will be mainly about it. Well, I hope you’ll like this one!

But at first let me tell you hello!

Dinosaurs in the garden…

Let me tell you that choosing Old Town and the guest house, apartment or hotel out there is the best thing you can do. Honestly.

Because I could go to the Museum of Jagiellonian University and see it was closed that day…

And simply go to the most popular church in Poland – Kościół Mariacki – and then to Sukiennice to see if I find a nice leather jacket there…

After that I could see the Kościuszko Mound and its museum about this hero.

It’s also good to just sit and have a lemonade…

…and enjoy the view.

So, now it’s time to tell you few words about the exposition about Tadeusz Kościuszko’s life.

It starts from his childhood, school days, first love… Studies in Paris and then he chose army.

I was honestly surprised seeing that Kościuszko was an artist. And a very good artist! But well, he gave up on it…

There were few real treasures in the part about American period of his life. Here we can see the fragment of the ferrule from George Washington’s sword or the copy of the Declaration of Independence. He also created West Point and here you can see his projects.

I honestly recommend spending a minute reading selected materials on screens. They were really interesting! There were only such huge walls full of info but I’m not posting here any photos of it. Just few words about the most interesting parts to encourage you to go to Kraków and check out this exposition. Honestly, one of best I’ve ever seen. Modern and tidy.

The next part of the exposition is about those days when he became the very first Marshal in Polish history. Józef Piłsudski was the second.

I find it amazing that they even kept the door from the manor house where Kościuszko was staying during the insurrection 1794!

When the last battle of the Polish-Russian war ends, Tadeusz Kościuszko becomes a prisoner and there is the reconstruction of his cell. Later you can also see effect of those two years spent in his cell… He was making wooden things then… And you can see them here!

The last part of the exposition is about his last years spent away from politics but well… There were such very nice rooms…

And that’s the end of exposition. After that you can find yourself climbing the mound if you want to.

This is a special type of roses named after Tadeusz Kościuszko.

That’s a chapel.

The way to the bus stop looked really beautiful. Just look!

Then I came back for the baggage to the guest house.

And spent some time relaxing in Planty (park in the place of medieval city walls) before taking the train back home to Warsaw…

So, I hope you find this trip as interesting and relaxing as it was to me. I hope I made you want to see Zakopane, Kraków and check out some new music!

Tomorrow will be about music again. This time it will be about nothing else but Autumn Variations by Ed Sheeran. I haven’t done such a separate post for a while and this one really made me… need to.

So, until tomorrow!

Love, A. A.
