‘Riverdale’ – Historical & Literary Contexts

Thirteenth episode of Riverdale was absolutely gorgeous and I’ve noticed many references to history but there is also a lot of literature… So, this is what today post will be about.

Well, I have noticed references to communism in that pro-American actions and it made me think – don’t try to fight with something you hate too hard because you may become just like that. And that scene with burning comic books… Well, it looked like World War II and Nazi burning Polish books… We’ve lost many precious books this way…

The second thing is literature. Here we have dramas Hamlet and King Lear by William Shakespeare (and other) but also poetry appears (do you recall what I was writing about in my previous post…? Click here to read it again) and the new English teacher looks familiar! This episode was dripping of it and I absolutely loved it!

So, in other words… I want to confess in this post my love for such wise references. I simply love this show for it! I mean it’s not just a simple entertainment but it carries a message… I’ve been trying to prove it all along and I hope today I gave you more reasons why it’s worth to watch Riverdale and dive dipper than the surface…

And well, this episode was absolutely full of other surprises but let me to leave it all unsaid. If you saw it, you know what I mean anyway…

The next post will be about the Harry Styles’ show in Warsaw! I can’t wait! I’m going with my mom because last year when she saw my videos… She was like “the next time we’re going together”. Liking this artist’s music doesn’t have age limits and I guess and I know that he reminds her about days when she was our age… I mean forever 20!

So, see ya at the show then!

  1. […] Other things worth mentioning now. Well, this new episode shows that I was right about communism! Do you remember the post when I told you that while fighting communism you shouldn’t use the same methods and language? Because you can’t extinguish fire with fire? Because you simply become the same? Well, I dived so deep then that I got it right! You can recall that post here. […]
