Today post will be not only about the new Ed Sheeran’s song but also about the Eyes Closed (Music Video) and depression that Subtract supposedly represents. But is it proper to talk about illness here…? Read this post to find out!
So, Eyes Closed is a lead single from the 5th studio album Subtract by Ed Sheeran. It’s a sad song about missing the friend who is gone and will never come back… Well, whole record will be made of such sad tunes but the single still just sounds good and so chilly! You can check it out below and let me know how you like it.
When it comes to the music video… It looks depressing, indeed but… That monster is a metaphor of sadness but it’s also extremely cute! It’s like… Don’t be afraid to embrace your sadness, maybe you both just need it… But the intro and some scenes from the music video are also made of the sinking car with Ed in it… That looks tragic like hell and the feeling like you’re drowning is definitely nothing good but… Is it right to talk about depression here?
Well, I heard the reportage in Polish media last night about Ed Sheeran’s illness and it was like… “If my role model is going though the same emotions, then I’m not alone…” But in my opinion it’s an overinterpretation. Subtract and Eyes Closed are not about fighting with illness called depression but it’s about going through a tough time. When something bad like death or illness happens and you lose people who mean the most to you or there is such a threat, it’s a human thing to be frustrated and sad about it. There is really nothing wrong about that… The problem appears when you need a therapy and drugs called antidepressants. I don’t know if Ed’s sadness is deep like that and I think nobody should dig into this delicate matter… Unless he wants to say something more about it in the nearest future.
Alright… When the next post comes then? I don’t know… Maybe tomorrow? About what? New rock version of the hit song entitled Heart Attack by Demi Lovato? Yeah, let it be.
See ya tomorrow then!
