The Review of ‘Endless Summer Vacation’ by Miley Cyrus

Today post is not only the review of the new record from Miley but I’d like to talk about the documentary/show available on Disney+ as well. So, let’s make a pina colada drink, sit in the armchair with it in your hand and relax a bit.

Miley Cyrus got popular thanks to the Disney Channel hit series Hannah Montana but she also come from the talented family where her dad is a Billy Ray Cyrus and her godmother is Dolly Parton. She recorded her first self-titled album as a part of the Hannah Montana 2 soundtrack. Then she put out such records and EPs:

  1. Meet Miley Cyrus (2007)
  2. Breakout (2008)
  3. The Time Of Our Lives EP (2009)
  4. Can’t Be Tamed (2010)
  5. Bangerz (2013)
  6. Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz (2015)
  7. Younger Now (2017)
  8. She Is Coming EP (2019)
  9. Plastic Hearts (2020)
  10. Attention: Miley Live (2022)
  11. Endless Summer Vacation (2023)

Looks impressive, I know! And she’s just 30 years old!

You can listen to the Endless Summer Vacation below and I will review the record then.

  • How the title and cover are responding to each other and the content of the record?

Title of the record appears in the song entitled Rose Colored Lenses and songs like Island can recall us summer holidays. Also, the cover is made of the photo where Miley is wearing a swimsuit (I guess) and the background is blue and it reminds me the song River. So, there are many such connections and none of those things mentioned in the question is an accident here.

  • What kind of genre is it?

I think it’s not proper to say that it’s just a pop record. I think it’s more complicated and it’s really hard to define it. I can hear some old music influences here, it’s maybe even a little bit Reggae when I think about such songs like Island. It’s a chilly music for sure and it’s even lyrical country sometimes… Dance-pop? For me that’s only River… Rock? Rose Colored Lenses maybe is a bit rock… And Jaded… Well… It’s just a one big musical experiment…

  • What singles are promoting this record?

An absolute hit Flowers and River. I love Flowers for being quite feminist, full of self-love, those melodies and stuff while River is interesting lyrically but it’s not really my cup of tea when it comes to those sounds… I feel like I might liked it more if it was acoustic… And I actually don’t like the chorus melodically… But I love the last chorus when it’s mixed with the pre-chorus…

  • What other songs can be called as favorites?

Rose Colored Lenses, Thousand Miles (feat. Brandi Carlile), You, Violet Chemistry, Muddy Feel (feat. Sia) and Island. Rose Colored Lenses is a song about the wish to make the sweet moment last forever. And it’s a pop-rock song. Thousand Miles is a country song which is very interesting because the melody is the same as in the Every Rose Has Its Thorn from Can’t Be Tamed album and lyrically it can remind us of Maybe You’re Right from Bangerz record. The fact that it’s country can recall the album Younger Now from 2017. That’s a very interesting song as I’ve already said… You is a song that was sang during the tour and it’s the part of the live album that came out last year entitled Attention: Miley Live. Violet Chemistry is a chilly pop song. I love those sounds, melodies and lyrics… And that bridge is genius in my opinion. And the symbolism of the violet is interesting in the context of this track… In other words… Everything is perfect here! Muddy Feel. I love it because it sounds good and that’s interesting that such a good singer like Sia is actually only a background singer here. Island is amazing because of this chilly sound. It’s a great song to relax and enjoy a summer drink while imagining you’re at the island…

  • What score does this record deserve to get?

For me it’s 7/10. I liked it but Plastic Hearts probably stays my fav.

  • What songs from the record can be placed in Top 5?

My TOP 5 looks like this right now:

  1. Red Colored Lenses
  2. Violet Chemistry
  3. Island
  4. Thousand Miles
  5. Flowers
  • The last additional thing – Miley Cyrus – Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions)

This is a little promotional show of the new record that you can watch on Disney+. Miley performed there: Jaded, Rose Colored Lenses, Thousand Miles, Wildcard, Island, Wonder Woman, The Climb, River and Flowers. If you enjoyed this review and listening to Endless Summer Vacation, then I absolutely recommend watching it. Also, you can learn more about the stories that inspired these songs and see the beautiful mansion… Oh! And 11 years old me that is still somewhere inside of me was freaking out seeing the performance of The Climb… If you loved the series Hannah Montana when you were a child, then your inner kid will also freak out… And… This show is short but I actually can’t imagine that it could’ve been longer and at the same time I want more… Does it make sense?

Today that’s all… Tomorrow I’m coming with a little ad of my debut poetry book because it’s my birthday tomorrow and it would be a beautiful gift to see any sales, you know. Also, my first novel is coming out on 31/03 so I’m promoting the debut for the last time…

See ya tomorrow, my party people!
