I’ve never asked myself this question before 2020. When I heard folklore and evermore by Taylor Swift, that’s when I realized that it’s how the soul sounds like. Music is sensual and delicate then and lyrics is poetical and deep…

The second time when I described music by giving this term was the release of When Facing the Things We Turn Away From by Luke Hemmings. It’s a solo record from one of members of 5 Seconds of Summer. And again, I couldn’t stop thinking that I’m listening to poetry when I was listening to this record. So, it made me feel the same way as folklore before. And it happened exactly after a year.

The third time when I felt like this was while listening to Prelude by Lauren Jauregui. This singer used to be a part of Fifth Harmony and then in 2021 this EP came out and it was so different and as much delicate and poetic as records from Taylor and Luke. And then in 2023 another EP came out entitled In Between and I believe that it’s a sound of a soul again but I also think that I can relate to and connect with Prelude more.

The last time when I heard the deep text and music that made me feel like I could touch someone’s soul was Malibu by The Driver Era. In my opinion this song deserves a Grammy award. Try to change my mind! And it was summer 2022. Also, check out Summer Mixtape! There are more such summer tunes!

2023 also brought another example of sounds of a soul. It’s Boat & Salt Water by Ed Sheeran from Subtract. But I can feel my soul swimming in music during listening to Salt Water more… And if you like these two songs, then you definitely must check out the rest of it that feels similar to me.

Now we have 2024, and I found more Sounds of a Soul in Taylor Swift‘s music again. The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology. The second secret album (songs 17-31) is were I find the new 3rd sister album to folklore and evermore…

Maybe one day I feel like music is floating right through my soul again, and it’s rather very possible, but this poetical album is closing my list right now… Yeah, it kinda ends like it started!

It looks like spring/summer and fall are the most poetical time, perfect for this kind of releases… But I also believe that pandemic made it possible for artists to create music that sounds like the soul.

Also, this kind of music is giving me the greatest possible peace… It makes me relaxed like no other music. I just close my eyes, and it’s like ocean waves come to me. Because it’s the cleanest spiritually music ever. And it inspires me like no other…

Well, you never know… Maybe I will even start my own competition for musicians one day… And I will be giving them the statue that is a symbol of reaching depths of the human soul thanks to using music and meaningful lyrics… A poet awarding other artists for being poetical… Well… Who knows…
