The Lost City (2022) directed by Aaron Nee & Adam Nee is a film about writing (because the romance writer is the main character) but it’s also a satire on adventure films. It’s a comedy which shows how hard it is to be a writer sometimes but it’s also a relaxing film with a pretty good montage and great names like Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe or Brad Pitt.
But let’s see what the official trailer of the movie shows at first:
If it’s such a fun well made film showing pretty views, then why did it collect so little prizes and bad reviews? What’s missing? Probably people want something more intelligent than silly. Yes. The answer is really this simple.
I personally didn’t feel like it was a ridiculously funny movie, I mean I didn’t find myself laughing hard but I can’t say that it wasn’t a nice fun time while watching it. I did it in the morning while having breakfast and it made my early hours past fast. In general, I had a good time and I think that’s what matters here the most.
Favorite moments? It’s hard to recall any… Whole film is full of situational humor so I would have to describe whole movie and I think it’s not what a review is for…
At the ending… I want to go back to the title of this post. Yes, it’s a film about writing. The Lost City shows how dangerous it is for a writer when someone takes their books too seriously… I’m an author of few books and I can’t imagine that any reader could ever search for the country I created for the story purposes (Great Lady’s Diary) or tried to guess real names of characters from my books (Laura’s Diary – My Awesome Life and Unknown Future – Your Destiny)… It’s all works of fiction, people! History or life can inspire us but novels never tell the whole truth… I guess Daniel’s character is the one who unfortunately made this mistake…
So, if you want to just relax and not think it all through too long… Then I can recommend you to watch this film. You can find it on HBO MAX.
The next post will bring the review of new Taylor Swift’s music video. I haven’t finished writing it yet but I know it will be a fun post.
So. That’s all. See ya the next time!
