The Last Year Visit In Puławy

Last year I went to Puławy for the second time in my life. If you’re the fan of the previous blog of mine – Great Lady’s Diary – then you know already what this place means to me!

Well, yes. Puławy inspired my 4th book. It’s a place where Isabela Czartoryska lived and that’s the main inspiration for my main character. But just the place, the palace and its history was a great inspiration for me as well. Let me show you photos that I’ve taken back then. Maybe you’ll want to go there too when you visit Lublin by the way.

Also, the main reason why I wanted to come back there is the temporary exposition about traveling. My novel is a historical fiction about the duchess love for her husband but also it’s about her trips. I’ve written the half of the book in the form of the blog and if you were a fan of it, you already know there are many places she’d been to like – (Tatra) Mountains, England, Scotland or Rome. So, as you see, to write another half of this book one day, I need to learn more about this subject. And there’s no better occasion than seeing it all with your own eyes, you know!

Alright. So, let me show you the palace!

The building below is Maria Wirtemberska’s palace (that’s Isabela’s daughter) and the second one is Temple of the Sibyl – the first Polish museum. It was duchess’ idea!

And here used to be the most value treasures for Poles. Unfortunately, the box with it was stolen during the World War II by Nazi, and it’s never been found again…

You can see in the palace things that were previously in the second museum building. We can find there such things like reliquary of Francesco Petrarca, William Shakespeare’s chair, famous paintings like Lady with an Ermine by Leonardo Da Vinci.

The Gothic House (the second museum building with international treasures):

Also, I’ve bought three books there already! I’m sure this one from the picture will inspire me a lot! And you know what? The promoter of my master’s thesis reviewed this book… Maybe that’s why he was extremely happy when I told him about my novel hmmm…

The second floor was all about the temporary exposition about traveling. The was the manuscript telling the story of the first travels of Poles who decided to see the world. It was 16th century… Map showing the route that is described in that travel diary. It was actually the pilgrimage… And more interesting stuff like that!

So, that’s it! I hope you understand more now why this place is so fascinating to me.

The next post will come on Monday probably and it will be a post about my city – Warsaw. I’ve made such a video on my YT channel two years ago, you know! I’ve already mentioned that these blog posts purpose is to extend what I’ve already said. That’s why!

Greetings!

A.A.
