Today I’d like to give you a little review of the new album from Taylor Swift + I’ve seen her new film in the cinema too!
‘The Life of a Showgirl’ is Taylor Swift’s 12th record. It was produced by Max Martin and Shellback. She worked with them on her previous albums – ‘Red’ (2012), ‘1989’ (2014), and ‘reputation’ (2017).
You can listen to this new album below.
Honestly, the sound of this new project reminds me of these titles mentioned above. It also reminds me of my early years of being a Swiftie!
Also, this album is still lyrically poetic, but it’s less tortured. The published poet is telling you so! ‘The Release Party of a Showgirl’ also made me realize why Taylor says it’s lyrical storytelling like ‘folklore’…
Now it’s time to say a few words about the movie! So, it was made of ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ music video twice, lyric videos, behind-the-scenes of making this new music video, and commentary. All these segments were mixed together. I was unfortunately 10 minutes late, so I saw a part of the music video at the beginning, but happily it was repeated at the end! Trams like to leave earlier, and make you wait for 13 minutes for the next one to arrive… Unfortunately!
My biggest concern was… That this film would be a bit boring, but… Happily, it wasn’t! Not at all! I like diving into the meanings of songs, so it was absolutely fascinating. And the structure of this film made it possible to keep the dynamism of it. Also, those images were aesthetically very pleasing!
If you’re curious how it looked… You can find the new music video and lyric videos on Taylor’s YouTube channel now! The first 12 videos from this playlist below are what I saw in the cinema last Saturday.
Now, let me tell you about my favorite songs! So, ‘The Fate of Ophelia’, ‘Elizabeth Taylor’, ‘Opalite’, ‘Actually Romantic’, ‘Wi$h Li$t’, and ‘Cancelled’. These are my picks. I also think these songs may be future singles! Except for the first title, which is already the lead single…
My last word is… Well, it was love at first listen for me!
Oh, and also… I ordered this CD, ‘It’s Beautiful’ edition, on Friday, and I picked it up on Saturday after the cinema experience… I’m still shocked how fast it was shipped!
Well… It was a beautiful weekend, indeed!

Yes, that’s my showgirl party outfit! And my new CD…
That’s all today. I really recommend checking out ‘The Life of a Showgirl’, maybe you’ll fall in love with it too, and until the next time!
Love, A.A.
