Anatomy of Antiquity. The Body and Movement in Sculpture

Last Friday I saw a very interesting exposition in the Royal Castle in Warsaw. It’s not open today anymore, but honestly, it was worth the visit!

This exhibition was about ancient sculptures. There were a few original ones and a lot of copies from the 18th/19th centuries. There was also a big collection of gemstones… I have never seen something like this before, and it was absolutely fascinating!

Antiquity was quite popular in the 18th/19th centuries, so there were also examples of new sculpures of some really rich people. And yes, there were a few well-known names to Poles…

And yes, there was also a bit about anatomy. I mean sketches or paintings, which were later an inspiration for sculptures.

This expo is no longer to see there in the castle, but the catalog is still for sale… And I honestly think of buying it because I loved it so much, you know! There are also lectures on YouTube, and I consider checking them out this week too…

That’s all today, and well… I have one more place to go to this week! I will tell you more about it next Monday.

Love, A.A.
