Hello! Today I have another chapter of my story for you! It’s gonna get sweet, dangerous, funny, and… Spicy! How does it sound? Pretty fine, huh?

10th November 2014
Dear Diary,
I don’t know what to think about all of this… Joe found out the whole truth and he’s totally shocked now… He doesn’t answer, doesn’t open his apartment door for anyone and stuff… I’m a little worried about him, and Alice starts to panic. I’m afraid to see how this story ends…
He learned about all of this by accident. Again… I was talking to his girlfriend, and I called her Alice and… Done… There’s nothing more I could do… I have no idea what’s going to happen now…
Let’s finish the story now. This is the part where the most interesting things are happening! I change the subject and worries just disappear!
*
It was the 2nd of February. In just a few days I was going to play in a new film. Joe and the Silver Trills went on a world tour the very next day while Sindy and Brian stayed in LA. When it comes to the movie I got a part in… I still couldn’t believe it was really happening. It was cool to think that I would be working on something completely new and fresh.
I was lying in bed in my room. It was incredibly early, but I was already clean and dressed. I just finished talking to my sister after getting back from Jack’s place. Let me remind you that the day before it was my birthday. It turned out that if the blond’s elaborate plan hadn’t worked out, I would have met the rest of the Silver Trills in the club. I had a good feeling that it was no coincidence that Mike and Brian were already there when we arrived. I could have spent the evening with Joe, but he didn’t get to see me because Jack was faster…
I looked at the small window. The delicate green curtains waving in the wind looked so foreign. I looked at the bedside table next to the bed. There were many objects on it, but a photo in a light brown frame caught my attention. Me and my friends, and my biggest problem with brown hair – Joe. “I think I still love him…” – I thought. I just looked at him and I knew…
I got up from the bed and went to the wardrobe which was in the left corner of the room. There was a mirror on its door. I looked at the girl’s reflection. She was wearing faded light blue jeans, an orange blouse with a large glitter heart, and simple black ballet flats. Her name is Laura. Laura Brown. Yep, it’s me.
In the reflected image, I noticed posters with my favourite artists hanging on white walls. You’re probably wondering who, diary? Katy Perry above all! She was my favourite singer right then… I won’t reveal more… Because I’m feeling ashamed… And I actually already mentioned about it earlier…
I turned around and watchfully looked around the room. Why did it all seem so foreign and out of reach then?
Suddenly my phone began ringing. I hastily pulled the device out of the pocket and clicked on the green receiver.
– Hello?
– Hey Lau. I have an offer you cannot refuse – I heard a familiar voice answering the phone.
– Hi, Sindy. Nice to hear from you too – I laughed.
– Yes, yes, I love you too. Well, how do you feel about the idea of us four getting together tonight before we all go our separate ways?
– Sounds great. But I don’t know about boys…
– They’ve already agreed. So what? Today at 10 A.M. at the studio?
– Alright. See you later – I smiled.
– See you later – she hung up.
I put my phone back in the pocket. “Cool. I’ll meet my friends in an hour and half” – I thought.
I felt my stomach started begging for food. “It’s a lunch time!” – I thought. And it was only eight in the morning!
I hurried down the stairs. In the living room I saw Samantha sleeping on the red couch with the TV on. Some people just never change…
I walked over to the TV and turned it off by pressing the right button. I turned around to my sister. How cute she looked back then. When she’s in this blissful state, she seems to be just ten years old. Without heavy makeup… Yeah, she definitely looks completely differently then. Much younger!
The whole room looked clean like hell. The red curtains by the two windows matched the cream colour of the walls perfectly. Between the TV and the sofa was a glass table and on the right, there was a sideboard with porcelain that was arranged gracefully.
I quietly made my way to a nearby room called the kitchen. The oak kitchen cabinets were filled to the brim with utensils, cookbooks, and packages of groats, flour, etc. Of course, there was also a sink, microwave, fridge, and stove.
How strange it was that I suddenly started noticing a lot of details as soon as I turned eighteen. Friends told me that they didn’t feel any change when they were at that point of entering adulthood while I… I just felt like everything had changed and I couldn’t explain it. The change wasn’t slow for me like most people experience but drastic and it was none other but Jack’s fault.
I went to the fridge. I got milk and orange juice. I drank coffee with the blond at his place, so I could afford to drink my beloved orange juice for lunch. I got cornflakes and the proper dish out of the cupboard. I started to prepare the meal which I began to eat sooner than later.
When I was done, I cleaned the bowl up and headed towards the stairs. But I didn’t go upstairs because something or rather someone stopped me.
– Laura? – I heard Samantha’s tired voice.
– Yes? – I came over to the girl.
– Sit next to me – she asked and gestured to the couch. I fulfilled her request.
– Yeah? Something happened? – I asked worried. She hugged me without a word.
– You know that I love you?
– Yes. Me too, sister… Why are you telling me this?
– For no reason… – we stopped hugging and the girl looked at her well-groomed nails.
– Huh? What is it, Sam? – her behaviour made me feel worried.
– I had a dream that I lost you. I don’t know what I would do without you…
– Hey, it was just a bad dream. I’m here, you see? I’m sitting next to you, and it won’t change… I have to go to Chicago in a few days, but it’s only two months. Even when I can’t be with you physically, my heart and soul will always be here with you – I touched her shoulder to comfort her and I smiled slightly.
– Thank you. I’ll remember that – we hugged again.
However, it didn’t last long because we were interrupted by a signal that someone was standing at the door. I got up from the couch and walked towards the exit of the house. What I saw shocked me terribly…
– Jack?!
– Nice to see you again too, Laura – he gave me that seductive smirk of his.
“What is he doing here?! It’s so early, man! How did he get here so quickly? How?!” – I was asking myself these questions. Well. I was afraid to meet him again, and now this creepy guy with blond bangs was standing in front of me…
– What are you here for? – I finally got my voice out.
– I came to pick up the car. You sent me the address, don’t you remember? I brought you some pretzels by the way – he grinned and handed me a paper bag with pretzels.
“This guy is getting more and more mysterious…” – I thought. I walked over to the countertop in the kitchen because that’s where I left the keys to his car. A moment later I went to the door again and handed it back to him, asking:
– Is it an excuse? – I looked at him, using a piercing look.
– To see you? Such an excuse is better than nothing.
He blinked at me and left. I closed the front door and felt slightly shocked. Then I went to the living room.
– Who was that? – my sister asked, showing a lot of interest.
– Jack…
There was silence between us for a moment after saying this name…
– What was he looking for in here? – she asked slightly indignant.
– He brought pretzels and picked up the car.
I tossed her the bag. She laughed at this and showed me that she thinks he’s crazy.
– If I see him, I’ll kick him all the way to Manhattan if he comes near you again… I’m worried about you, sister.
It turned out that Jack was supposed to bring me home, and he took me to his place instead… That’s why she began to be afraid for me. I found out about it during our morning conversation… It seems that the idea of kidnapping me was too tempting for this bartender!
– Oh, you don’t have to worry about a thing. I can handle this… – I looked at my watch and said these words: – Okay, I must get ready for the meeting with my friends.
– Have fun!
I barely heard her words on the stairs leading up…
*
I left the house ten minutes earlier and I was on my way to the studio. I was supposed to be there any minute. I took the phone out of my pocket. I just got a text message.
“You look beautiful today. Kisses. Jack”
“What a clown… I’m starting to be increasingly afraid of him…” – I thought. His impudence made me incredibly nervous. I had only met him the day before! I hastily put the device back in its original place… Because I’ve already got there. I saw the smiling faces of my friends and I knew that it was going to be a beautiful day.
– Sindy, Brian, Joe! How glad I am to see you all! – I greeted them very warmly.
– A group hug? – the happy black-haired boy suggested. Of course, it had to come true.
– So… Where are we going first? Let’s not stand like this any longer… It’s cold! – Joe was complaining stamping his feet.
– Oh Joe. And everybody thinks you’re a hot guy – Sindy looked at him with eyes full of sympathy.
I started laughing like a madwoman. Blonde joined me soon after.
It was February, but it’s always summer in Los Angeles! Our Joe was kind of gentle back then… Even now I want to laugh about it…
– Haha very funny – Joe was visibly embarrassed.
– Shall we go to our favourite restaurant? Under a Cloud? – Brian asked.
Me and my friend calmed down and everyone agreed. A moment later we went to the previously mentioned place.
*
We were sitting in the warm restaurant. We had already ordered our meals and we were waiting for them.
– Listen! I’ll tell you a joke! – Brian suddenly had to recall us about himself.
– Go on, brother – Joe said.
We all looked at the black-haired boy waiting for his words. Brian opened his mouth to say something and…
– Because you’re staring at me so insistently… I forgot what I wanted to say… – he was saddened, and we all started laughing lightly.
Ah, life would be so boring without him! As I’ve said a thousand times before… He was always trying to make us laugh… Our group joker Brian…
Right at this moment Joe got a text and reached for his phone.
– You know what? My childhood friend wants to join us for about half an hour. What would you say about that? – he asked, putting a big smile on his face.
– Oh, sure. No problem. And what is his name? – Sindy asked.
I took a sip of lemon water in the meantime. Our food already arrived partly at the table thanks to the waiter.
– Name? Jack – he answered.
At the sound of this name, I spat water out right onto the waiter’s apron and started choking.
– God! – the boy screamed as soon he realized what had happened.
Joe came over to me and started patting me on the back and Sindy decided to join. “They’re going to kill me in a second…” – flashed through my mind… Brian was just laughing looking at us like we were crazy. After a while, the situation was under control.
– I’m so sorry, sir! – I miraculously managed to say these words to the man who carries food.
– It’s all right… – he set our food down sourly and walked away from us fast.
– Wow! What was that?! – Brian continued to laugh while saying these words.
I wiped my mouth with the napkin without a word.
Suddenly I felt someone’s breath on my neck. Like… Could it be worse? Yep!
– Oh, hi Jack! How good to see you, man! – Joe stood up and greeted the blond with a handshake.
I turned around and blushed when I saw a familiar face.
– Wow! You didn’t change at all! – he laughed.
– Thanks… Ah, right! Meet my friends Brian, Sindy, and… – he pointed at us, but Jack interrupted him.
– Hi, Laura. I didn’t think we’d meet today again – he smiled brightly at me, and I thought I was about to have a heart attack.
– Jack… – I barely mumbled these words.
– You two know each other…? – the brunet was completely astonished.
Sindy and Brian looked at each other and Joe looked at me and then at Jack. All I could do was stare into the empty space in front of me. It got a little awkward in the end…
– Laura didn’t tell you anything…? I met your friends at the club before. I met Laura yesterday, and the rest a long ago – Jack sounded surprised. But… I don’t know… – We spent her birthday together. It was very nice – he smiled like a pervert.
“Kill me, please…” – I thought in response to his story and behaviour…
– Does it mean that you both… – Joe began. He turned white like a paper.
– There is no us – I protested. – And Jack must go now – I gave him a murderer’s look.
I grabbed his arm and led him far enough, so my friends couldn’t hear our conversation.
– What the hell are you doing?! – I asked nervously.
– Ah, darling. We could be such a pretty couple. Have a bunch of kids and live in a huge house… – it wasn’t hard to see that he was kinda dreamy while saying this. In addition, he started playing with a strand of my hair.
– Why did you choose me…? – I looked into his eyes.
– I didn’t choose you… My heart did it.
He bent down to place a kiss on my lips. Luckily, I pushed him away in time.
– This is an awfully bad idea, Jack. Go away and don’t complicate my life – I told him firmly, then walked away from him.
– You’ll come running back to me, you’ll see! – he yelled before disappearing through the door of the premises.
I went back to my seat and sat down without saying a word.
That’s when I was finally able to see the beauty of this place, somehow… Everything was white and blue like the sky and clouds, but the furnishings were typical for a restaurant. That’s where the name of this place came from!
Suddenly I opened my eyes and realized the obvious… We’d been coming here for the beginning of our friendship. So many memories… And that’s when I finally noticed it!
Oh my, it happened again… Under the influence of Jack, my perception of the world changed completely! I swear I hadn’t been able to notice those clouds before! How strange!
I looked at my friends. They were staring at me the whole time and I didn’t even notice. It’s scary to think what was going on in their heads after seeing that scene…
– Let’s eat – a fake smile appeared on my face.
Fortunately, they listened to me.
A moment later I felt that I received a message. I literally barely touched the fork! I took my phone out and read what Alice had written to me.
“Hey Lau, what are you doing?
Ah, I’m excited about the Silver Trills concert on Wednesday!”
I smiled involuntarily. Sindy noticed this and reacted:
– Who’s texting you there, huh? – she raised one eyebrow and sipped the cherry juice from her glass.
– Alice – I replied radiantly.
Joe blushed, hearing this name.
– We can’t see it at all, beetroot – Brian said to the brunet.
He started to giggle and hid his face in his hands. I quickly replied to the girl.
“– I’m at the restaurant and I think Joe wants to talk to you.
– Seriously? So cool! Will he text me right now or something?
– Yes”
– Joe, here you are, and have fun – I handed him my phone.
He took the device from me surprised and after a moment started tapping his fingers on the screen. He looked delighted.
– Laura the matchmaker! Laura the matchmaker! – Brian began to laugh and so did Sindy.
“Crazy people…” – I thought…
Later I calmly started eating my food. My beloved Chinese chicken! It was with rice and vegetables, but I survived it somehow… I’ve never ordered it in that restaurant before… I like to choose a different dish each time, but the memory of my birthday made me choose this and not any other meal…
*
We sat in the pub for over an hour, and we couldn’t leave. It was impossible to reach Joe at all. He was literally sunk in my phone all the time. In the end, it really started to piss me off…
– Joe, for God’s sake, kindly give my phone back – I hissed furiously.
– Just one more minute… – he grumbled.
– This “moment” has been lasting for an hour now – Sindy interjected and made quotation marks in the air.
– The magic of love… – Brian said smiling as usual.
– Okay… Here you are… – the boy finally gave me the device back. – Ah, she’s so funny! And talented… It’s a pity you didn’t see her lyrics. It’s so beautiful. And she’s so wonderful… I’ve never known someone as extraordinary as her… – he looked dreamy like hell, and I started boiling inside.
Was I jealous? Well. He’d never talked about me like that… Anyways… Maybe I just wanted a new friend exclusively… Maybe… I don’t know…
I rolled my eyes theatrically and put the phone back in my pocket.
– Wow – Brian summed up and looked at his friend amazed.
“My man!” – I thought laughing in my thoughts. That one word contained so much! And I absolutely agreed with his summation.
– Where are we going now? – Sindy asked.
“Saving words” – I thought. I didn’t want to feel like this any longer… It was time to get out of there and breathe some fresh air… I literally had to put everything behind that happened right there.
– To the Pig Mill! – Brian screamed.
Everyone in the room turned their eyes to us. “What a shame…” – I thought…
– I think you mean the Ferris Wheel – Joe replied, looking pityingly at him.
There are times when you don’t know whether to laugh or cry… And my thoughts could only confirm that… They were literally so cut… The whole thing with Jack, then Alice and Joe… And then Brian… He’s always trying to make us laugh, but this time it turned out a little… Well… Wrong! Everything was wrong! And it could’ve been so good!
– Okay, then let’s go there – I said. Others nodded and we left the restaurant.
*
It was already afternoon when we reached the amusement park. We went straight to the Ferris Wheel and got into one of the capsules, and a moment later we were about to be in the air. “I can’t wait!” – I thought.
The whole machine consisted of thirty capsules with space for four people. Each was lit inside, and they were as white as chicken whites.
I looked at my friends. Brian was looking around with a big smile on his lips, Joe was staring thoughtfully at the sky, and Sindy was looking at him and she eventually asked him:
– What are you thinking about, buddy? – she smiled at the friend.
– What do you think it may be? – he blushed in response.
– I think I know what it is. Or rather… Who – she blinked at him, and he laughed softly.
Rage took over me again and I took my phone out. I sent a thoughtless message to Jack and, horror of horrors, he wrote back right away:
“– Come to me at nine pm.
– I knew you’d write to me soon”.
I hastily hid the device in my pants pocket. Why did I write it? I didn’t know… I looked at my friends. They were still doing the same things as before. And for the third time that day, it seemed to me that suddenly everything had become so… Different…
Suddenly we soared up which brought me a wave of joy. We were getting higher and higher every second. In the end, we were at the highest point of elevation, and I was happy to look at the little white fluffy clouds. The sun was already beginning to set towards the west and the light cast such a beautiful golden glow on the earth. It was fabulous, but it wasn’t sunset yet. The world just seemed so beautiful to me at this point in the daily journey of the sun across the sky… “My life is just as wonderful as the world around me… ” – I thought. – “What a beautiful lie. It doesn’t mean the same thing even in one percent. Human life is fleeting, and nothing will be left of us. Only records of our present will remain for posterity, bones will turn to dust with time, and eventually, only objects will be silent witnesses of our existence until time wears them down too but that may take thousands of years. The Earth and the Sun will exist until some cataclysm knocks them out of their orbits of routine. Carpe diem…”.
That’s when I realized that the beauty of my life was just an illusion… What am I comparing to time and celestial bodies? A little nothing. What does the beauty of my life mean compared to nature? Nothing beats her beauty. Even my successes are worth nothing compared to the painting of light and sky. The one that I saw then being there in the air with my closest friends.
*
I finally got home. Hmm… After all, I literally spent the whole day with my friends. I mean… About four hours? No, probably more… Well… It was wonderful, and I don’t want to recall bad moments at all…
Just after I got back to my room, I needed to relax a bit: hot bath, my favourite music, a book, and getting my nails done. Typical girly stuff. Yep… Of course, I also had to write an entry in the diary. I finally laid down on the bed and started staring at the ceiling. I was thinking. Jack was about to come soon…
Suddenly my extremely interesting occupation was interrupted by an insistent tapping on the window. I was scared and surprised because who would’ve thought that your upstairs window could be useful to someone? Or let someone do something…
I got up and opened it to the newcomer.
– Isn’t it easier to enter like a human being through the door? – I asked, laughing.
– I thought your parents would come and… You know… It’s more romantic like that – he blinked at me and sat on my bed. I followed him.
– We’re alone here tonight. Samantha and our parents must have gone out for the night – I explained to him.
– Ok… Why did you change your mind and want to meet me? – he asked getting right to it.
– I realized I’d like to get to know you better – I answered truthfully.
My anger was also true, but no one needed to know about it but me… And now you also know about it, my dear diary…
– So… What do you want to know?
– Everything. The story of your life – I said, staring straight into his lovely hazel eyes.
– Okay… Where shall I start my confession… – he started to think aloud, but it didn’t last long as he started his story quite right away. – I never knew my parents. They died right after I was born. Allegedly, it was a homicide, but the mystery has never been solved… I have a twin brother who works in a restaurant. We used to live in an orphanage but later when we became adults, we moved to a house in the forest. That’s where you’ve been… I met a girl in the orphanage, but our paths parted when my brother and I moved out. Sometimes I miss her and my parents terribly… You know… I’ve known her since I was a child… She was almost like a sister to the two of us… – he wiped a tear that fell from his eye. – Also, I work as a bartender. You know where… I’m also a musician and I hope our film will allow me to start a whole new life. I can also add that… I love horses. Riding this amazing animal makes me feel free as a bird. It’s such a wonderful emotion… Yeah, I came here by horse to pick up the car. I drove slowly, so Ela, that’s my horse’s name, followed me home and there was no problem with that… I also hate it when people lie to me, and I think… That’s it – he looked at me with sad eyes.
Yep… What a rare sight to have to deal with a touched male heart. Joe is no exception…
– Wow… I don’t know what to say… – I admitted.
His words were so moving. What I heard was also intriguing and shocking. All at once! But I also think I had no reason not to believe him.
– You don’t have to say anything… You don’t have to tell me about yourself. I know you better than you think – he smiled slightly at me. – From Joe, Sindy, Brian, and Samantha.
– Yes… Tell me about the beginnings of your acquaintance with them.
– Well… I met Joe when we were kids. My brother Michael loves music just like me and Joe. The three of us were friends when he was attending the elementary school near our orphanage. Everyone knew everyone in the area, so you know… And Sindy and I used to attend the same high school together. We even were in the same class… And I met Brian and Samantha at the bar.
– Seriously?! Sindy never told me about her high school years… Wow – I was so drawn into his stories.
– And how did you meet Joe? Are you still a couple? You know… He told me a lot about you – he laughed, recalling the memory in his head.
– We played together in the series. And we’re not together anymore. He prefers my friend Alice anyway and you know what hurts me the most? That he never talked about me the way he does about her… – my sorrows finally saw the daylight.
– He’s really in love with her… But do you know what? There is someone in the world who is crazy about you in a comparable way… Your personality is as wonderful as the summer breeze. Your beauty is better than a thousand roses. The taste of your lips is the sweetest candy ever. You are the greatest reward a knight can get… There is a person in the world who really thinks so and he’s sitting in front of you right now – while speaking these words, the blond kept looking into my eyes and stroking my cheek.
I can’t deny it. It all was so lovely…
– You compelled me… – I said quietly.
Suddenly, I saw the fire of desire in his eyes, and all the sweetness had gone to hell, I guess. He kissed my lips lightly, but it quickly turned into a passionate kiss. It was incredibly pleasant to me. A moment later he was lying on me, and he wasn’t slowing his kisses down. It was getting hotter and hotter, and I didn’t want to stop it at all. I just couldn’t move. I felt it might be a long night…
*
Hmm… I remember that day perfectly. It was extraordinary. I won’t say why I think so… Well. In the next post, I’ll talk about our farewell at the airport with Joe and so on.
I’m curious what you think about what I wrote today. Ah, it’s a pity you can’t speak, my dear diary…
P.S. “Life likes to be complicated. Love likes it too”.
Words spoken by Alice. She would be a good philosopher. Hmm… I know! She’s a great match for Joe! And that’s probably the best summary of the past and present! But I guess I’m also suitable for the role of philosopher… And I think I showed it here today… Hmm… We’re all philosophers after all!
