Today it’s finally time to tell you more about the show I’ve been to earlier this month!
Sheppard is an Australian band who moved to USA lately. They released four records by now:
- Bombs Away (2014),
- Watching The Sky (2018),
- Kaleidoscope Eyes (2021),
- Zora (2024).
Their music (indie pop) has such a positive vibe, so I really had to buy a ticket when I heard they would perform in Warsaw, Poland. It was the smallest venue I have ever been to, but it was a special night, and I will always recall it with a smile on my face.
Now let me do a very different thing than I usually do. I will show you each recorded song separately!
Daylight
Sometimes we go through tough times, but then everything gets better thanks to someone special! Daylight comes from their latest record Zora.
Animals
This song is about a boy and girl who live their lives bravely like animals. It comes from Kaleidoscope Eyes.
Sunshine
Sunshine is a very nice song that reminds me of hot summer days! It comes from Zora. Now you know what to enjoy this summer. 😉
Learning To Fly
This song is about learning to fly! It’s about becoming better, bigger, and happier. It comes from Kaleidoscope Eyes. Honestly, it’s one of my favorite records and songs from it.
Let Me Down Easy
This break-up song is one of the first ones Sheppard has ever created! So, yeah, it’s a special song everybody knew how to sing that night. It comes from their debut Bombs Away.
Keep Me Crazy
I bet it was 2017 when I heard about this band for the first time. When I decided to learn more, I remember I found Bombs Away, and a few singles like this song. It became one of my favorites right away! And I still love this song so much, you know? It comes from Watching The Sky.
The Best Is Yet To Come
I learned during that night that the guy who plays guitar there in the background is the co-author of this song. It’s a beautiful ballad about beginnings! It’s always the hardest right before reaching the peak, so it’s important to never give up and stay patient. It comes from their debut Bombs Away.
Coming Home
The next song is about coming home. In the end, there is no better place than home! Especially when you get to see the world. After the success of their debut and Geronimo, they had to go back to Australia, and I bet that’s what inspired them to write it. It comes from their second album Watching The Sky.
Die Young
I learned during the show that it was written when the lead singer – George – had to have surgery, and he heard from the doctor that his voice may not sound the same anymore. He got a bit dramatic, thinking it was the end of the band, and then they wrote Die Young. Well, it wasn’t the end, but at least they wrote one of their best songs! It comes from Kaleidoscope Eyes.
Kiss My Fat Ass
This song is a single without an album. It was written for haters hating Amy’s body (she has blue hair). Well, she looks fabulous, and it’s important not to listen to such hateful comments, right? We’re all beautiful in our unusual way! And this song has such a rock spirit that I really felt out there…
Symphony
One of my favorite songs again! Symphony is a beautiful love song that comes from Kaleidoscope Eyes.
Edge Of The Earth
That’s a song about traveling and love! It comes from Zora, their latest record, and it’s one of my favorite songs from the new album.
On My Way
Eurovision song! On My Way got 3rd place in Australia, so it never got to represent their beautiful island, but it stays one of the greater Eurovison-related songs.
Milkshake Man
Another Eurovision song! This time it’s about this year’s contest. Somebody else will perform it in May – his name is Go-Jo, but it was written by Sheppard! Surprise!
Geronimo
The last song is their biggest hit. I heard Geronimo on the radio in 2017, and I immediately fell in love with this song. I had to write down what it was and search on Spotify when I came home. And well, now I’m here writing this post!
Also, there was the support, indeed. But for the first time ever it was the Polish artist and his name is izdeb! You can check out two clips of his songs below. They are quite beautiful, believe me!
At the end, I’d like to also show you the short video where I talk about this show.
Now, that’s all. Expect the next post on Monday!
Love, A.A.
