So, it’s been 10 years, and I’ve seen this band (and the previous one that was called R5) performing in Poland for the 6th time on Tuesday…

I honestly feel like an expert here because I believe I’ve already seen everything… Ten years is a long time coming, in the end!
At first, I need to say that it was a miracle that I was there, on the balcony. I mean, I found out about it literally just 1,5 hours before the first band appearance on the stage!
The first support that performed as the first band is called Your Favorite Color. I appeared on the balcony in the middle of their set, so I only heard four songs, but I honestly loved this energy. I heard Stained, Toy Boy, Medicine, and Forget the Summer. You can watch short videos with these songs below.
The second band is almost monday. They have been The Driver Era’s support for the longest time, but I heard them live for the first time. Their music is the definition of good vibes, and those dance moves were insane. I think that a lot of people could learn it from them…
You can see short videos from their set here:
The Driver Era is made of just two guys – brothers Ross and Rocky Lynch. But on the stage, we can also see their older brother – Riker Lynch, and friend – Ellington Ratliff. This squad comes from R5 days. Two more musicians that jointed them a few years ago are Dave Briggs (drums), and Garrison Jones (keyboard). But I must also underline the fact that Ellington came back to playing live with the boys earlier this year.

The Driver Era played so many new songs – ones that came out since the last time in 2022 – and songs that are yet to come. I think I look forward to hearing studio versions of Touch and Better the most… But yeah, I didn’t hear this second song yet! But I heard samples, and it’s my fav already now…
They also played a few songs that weren’t on the setlist – Lay Your Head Down by R5 (from the previous era), the cover Sex On Fire by Kings of Lean, and Afterglow. This way it was made of 24 songs in total!
I also need to say that this band love instrumental breaks between songs. It felt so smooth, but also like it was a bit too much this time… But they are also masters at this. Nobody Knows Live is the best example! The next time I would try to find some balance… But I’m not a musician, so it’s just a piece of friendly advice from the writer. I just feel like too much is not a good option sometimes… And hands should rest sometimes… But if they like it, then who am I to judge? And it’s not about solos on piano or drums… Such things should only be cherished!
In general, I honestly loved this show. I was sitting on the chair, but it was impossible not to dance and sing anyway! And honestly, I think it was the best concert I have seen from this era (three R5 shows, three shows by The Driver Era, what the next era will be about then…? Stars align now, new things are coming, I can feel it…).
If you’d like to check out the setlist, it’s here:
Songs that are not released yet have just the same titles, but are from other artists.
