Old Manuscripts and Palaces

There is such an one palace in Warsaw, Poland where you can always go and see some priceless manuscripts and old books for free… It’s Krasiński Palace!

I went there with my mom last month. We borrowed audioguides and for a person like me (I mean someone who loves books, studied philology and is a writer), it was fascinating to go to this palace. Yes, it was my first time because it had never been opened like that before!

The first room is all about Middle Ages and the oldest manuscripts (some books are very unbelievably huge…), and then we go through all those eras until modern times.

It’s a palace, so it’s also about beautiful rooms like…

But that’s not all yet! There are also collections made of old libraries like the one that belonged to the king in 16th century (his name is Zygmunt August) or the library from the palace in Wilanów. It was one of king’s summer house (Jan Sobieski), but this part of the library that you can see below was created at least 100 years later. And well… It was moved to Krasiński Palace.

After seeing the exposition, it’s also worth checking out the temporary one – I saw the exposition about Czesław Miłosz. Yep, that’s what you can currently see there. What is it about? About his diaries, letters, and things from the American period.

When we have enough of books and palaces… We can go to the park!

So, this is what it looked like. I hope I encouraged you to go there one day!

I will give you the next blog post on Wednesday, and that’s all today.

Love, A.A.
