My new video about my latest trip is here, and now it’s time to extend this subject here, you know. So, read it to watch my video, learn even more about Łódź, Poland and see some pics.
So, at first feel free to see my new video! And well, it will rather take some time!
So, yeah. It was my birthday kind of trip. I have never been to Łódź even though it’s just 130 km away from Warsaw! But honestly, I loved being there, and it felt like home to me… I mean I was born in the district of Warsaw that is called Praga North, and it’s full of factories just like Łódź…
The Film Museum was the first place I went to. You can learn there more about this industry being kinda born in Poland and in this city, you can see so many old cameras, you can also learn more about the film school, and the work on movies etc… But you can also find there some interesting objects like such an invention that let watch pics for so many people at once or things that belonged to one of actresses that lived in the interwar period. Also, as I told you before, it’s a palace, so there are few beautiful chambers as well. Oh, and there are also a lot of objects and clothes that were simply props.
Ok, so now it’s time to tell you few words about the second palace! It’s all about the palace kind of views again, but it’s also about the history of this city. It’s Izrael Poznański’s palace, and it’s made of three floors of expositions! That’s why I spent there over 3 hours!
Let me tell you few words about these expositions right now. So, at first you see all those beautiful rooms, then you go downstairs to basements to learn more about Łódź, and then there are some additional things on the ground floor. You can see there rooms made to introduce famous people who were born or lived in Łódź, there is a cantor from the movie Promised Land directed by Andrzej Wajda etc.
Few things about the history of Łódź now. So, it started growing super fast in 19th century, and it was made mainly of three nations – Jews, Germans and Poles. Very often all these people lived under the same roof before World War II, and I bet I don’t have to tell you twice that everything changed after the war… You can learn all about it seeing two expositions in the basements.
The exposition about Rubinstein is an example of what you can find there, in this palace…
Basements time now. You could see there the prewar building, and three apartments that belonged to Jews, Poles and Germans were arranged there. It’s all just a symbol, but it’s still pretty…
Alright! So, the last place is Herbst’s palace, and it’s also the Art Museum Department. It’s all about beautiful rooms again, it’s about art, gardens and about the history of this family as well. And well… It was a nice way to end my trip…

So, that’s all today, and I hope you like all of this! And I hope I inspired you to see these places one day…
My next post is coming on Monday, and I will share some new musical discoveries with you then.
Greetings!
A.A.
