Taylor Swift – 1989 (Taylor’s Version)

Today post will be about the 4th re-recorded album by Taylor Swift 1989 that originally came out in 2014, and is her 5th record in discography. In this post I will talk about: cover, title, singles, songs From The Vault, few of my favorites and just some general things.

I remember those days like it was yesterday… I mean when the original record came out. Because I was a Swiftie then already! I remember waiting for it because it was actually the first time to me. I wasn’t disappointed, I liked this record, but it’s never been my favorite one… I mean Speak Now and Red were bigger and better to me until the reputation era… But it doesn’t mean that I don’t have favorite songs here that I can’t imagine my life without!

When it comes to the re-recorded version that came out last Friday… It was like a breeze of some fresh air, it’s true. I was surprised that it sounds kinda differently and the same at the same time. Because her voice in this record got the grown-up form, and those previous record fans call a baby Taylor records because of her voice. Red is actually the border I would even say, because there is something in her voice you can’t find anywhere else… Some kind of tiredness…

But let’s talk about 1989 (Taylor’s Version)! I love this new cover that also got the piece of blue sky… The previous one didn’t have it and blue was always a symbol of this album, so I guess it’s a better one though the old one will always be the iconic one… When it comes to the title… It’s simply her birthday year.

There are such singles: Shake It Off, Blank Space, Style, Out Of The Woods, Wildest Dreams, Bad Blood, New Romantics, and I heard that Is It Over Now? will be the new single. I guess we’ll see! I really like these two first titles, but Style, Out Of The Woods, Wildest Dreams, and New Romantics are definitely my favs. I like these songs for everything – the sound, lyrics, and I simply connect emotionally with these songs more. I like the electric guitar in Style, the groove of Out Of The Woods, the gentleness and the story in Wildest Dreams and New Romantics for this energetic chorus that makes me turn the volume up.

There are also 5 new songs called From The Vault. Except the already mentioned track (Is It Over Now?) there are also such ones like: “Slut!”, Say Don’t Go, Now That We Don’t Talk and Suburban Legends. They are all so good, but Say Don’t Go, Is It Over Now? and “Slut”! are my TOP 3. I’m absolutely obsessed.

Now it’s time to mention few other songs. I Wish You Would, This Love, Wonderland and You Are In Love are ones I’m truly thankful for. These songs are so beautiful and I can’t imagine my playlist without them. Except hit singles that probably everybody heard about these four songs are ones I absolutely cherish. If you haven’t heard them yet, then you really need to do it, you know. I love the story and the electric guitar that reminds me Style in I Wish You Would, Wonderland is an energetic pop song just like New Romantics while This Love and You Are In Love are so beautiful and gentle. If you like country and folk music… I feel like you may like these like feathers songs. I mean last two.

Now it’s time to say few random things in the last paragraph. This record probably got more changes in sounds than other re-recorded albums. I feel like Welcome To New York and I Know Places are the best examples of it, but during the first listen I honestly felt the same way about almost all songs. Another thing that I must mention is… a bonus track. You can find a Deluxe Version of it, but the song I love is not available online (there is only a remix of Bad Blood with Kendrick Lamar right now…). That’s Sweeter Than Fiction (Taylor’s Version), and I really hope it’s gonna be on streaming services one day. There are few songs from Speak Now (Taylor’s Versions) and Midnights that I hope to be available like that as well… Maybe EPs like The More Speak Now, The More 1989 and The More Midnights are going to appear later this year just like The More Fearless, The More Red and The More Lover did few months ago…? I really hope so!

So, the last thing is the link to the record. Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think!

So, that’s all today. The next post is coming on Friday and it will be about Only Murders In The Building. It’s going to be the last one about this series! As I’ve already mentioned before…

Love, A.A.
