I wanted to go to the title museum during the previous weekend when it opened but I didn’t got there then… But I did on Friday instead! And today I have pictures of this amazing architecture and few words about the temporary exposition that shows what this place will be about soon. Because it’s just a temporary exposition that is some kind of sneak peek.

This park was also just opened. It’s all next to Polish Army Museum about which I wrote a blog post lately.

There are objects related to the place where this building is, it’s the collection of stuff from donors… Some things were simply a silent witness of Big History, and other were… Well, simple everyday objects! And the list of them looks like this:
- Dowry chest. Before 1907.
- Military tailcoat of Kazimierz Antoni Leopold, lieutenant of the company of Voltigeurs of the 16th Infantry Regiment of the Duchy of Warsaw. 1810-1814.
- Top hat with box. Estonia, 1900-1910.
- Portraits of the professor from Lviv – Roman Rencki and his wife Paulina. His was killed by Nazi, the painter was also killed (Bolesław Barbacki) and the woman from the painting was sent away to Kazakhstan and came back to Lviv… 1941 was such a sad time…
- This sculpture by Krzysztof M. Bednarski called Birthplace.
- Things about the WWII.
- Uniform of Ryszard Białous, commander of the Zośka battalion.
- Manhole leading to the Home Army’s secret radio station, known as the Submarine. WWII times.
- Uniform donated by the family of General Stanisław Maczek. UK, after 1940.
- Copybook with satirical poetry from the Łódź Ghetto.
And now something that made me realized that we watch history happening and all that seems normal (or not) will be placed in museums one day. I mean there is a part of exposition that is about the war in Ukraine and pandemic and it was so thought-proving to me.
Some other things that may define our times like… Football, the airplane crash from 2010 when Polish president died and many other people, the Polish Pope’s death, European Union, poetry by Wisława Szymborska (the Nobel prize winner), Solidarność (Solidarity) and defeating communism.
The stuff found in the Vistula River was a fascinating part of the exposition. The most interesting were parts of the Villa Regia & construction pile from the 18th-century bridge.
There were also other random things like stuff from Middle Ages or The November Uprising 1830-1831 period of time.
Further there were scenes from Polish history in a form of paintings and tapestries. Jan III Sobieski was presented in the Polish Pavilion during World’s Fair in New York, 1939-1940. When it comes to paintings… They present events which define Polish position in Europe from the very beginning. The 1st one was Bolesław the Brave greeting Otto III, then there was the baptism of Lithuania, the 4th one was The Union of Lublin, the 6th one was the Relief of Vienna and the last was The 3rd May Constitution.
The modern times were also represented by:
- Narrow-gauge wagon used for removing rubble from Warsaw after WWII.
- Map of the transit of Soviet Army units out of Poland.
- Copy of the cipher machine known as the Polish Enigma. The German one was there as well.
- Do you remember my recent post about Zakopane? There were portraits painted by Witkacy too! Similar sculptures were in Zakopane too… In that Oksza villa, you know. In that gallery… It made me smile, honestly.
- Princes Polonie denarius of Bolesław the Brave. It’s believed to be the oldest Polish coin that exists… But when I was a child I was told that it’s from his father’s times but it’s been a while and I guess historians have a new theory now…
- There was also such a fancy cash register… I loved that!
- Mikołaj Kopernik vs. Jan Heweliusz…?
- Kontusz sash collection. It was a traditional trademark of Polish noble people. Also, I haven’t seen too many such impressive collections of it!
- A very amazing dress from 19th century, USA.
- Hussar half-armored anima breastplate, 17th century.
- Victoria-Victoria. The sculpture was created by Krzysztof M. Bednarski. That’s right! This name has already appeared here before…

So, that’s it. Tomorrow post will be about the novel that I’ve read lately.
Greetings!
A.A.
