Saxon Palace

Another thing that I did in Warsaw this summer is a free trip with a guide where I could see basements of the Saxon Palace. It will take few years before the palace will be fully rebuilt, so residents can at least see stages of it… Well, in this post I’d like to show you 13 pics that I took there.

Saxon Palace is an iconic place that was destroyed by Nazi during WWII. This place was at first a manor house and then a little baroque palace that belonged to Tomiasz Morsztyn (just a politician) and then his brother Jan Andrzej Morsztyn, the poet and royal politician. After that, it was bought by Saxon king August II who had it rebuilt in 18th century and it was meant to be a private residence. In 19th century young Fryderyk Chopic lived here with his family (his father was a teacher). After regaining the independence it was one of most important places in Warsaw until WWII.

Grave of the Unknown Soldier is the only part of the palace that survived the war. And yes, it’s been there for last 100 years. It’s a symbolic place related to fighting for freedom if you wonder what it means to Poles… And you can see sounders on a honor guard everyday there.

Now you can check out my photos of those basements!

If you look closely, you will find a tuner (that’s almost under the grave). Also, it’s the oldest part of the palace.

Such a fun fact now. There was the first vampire of Warsaw found who was buried there in 17th century. 11th picture. Somewhere there was found the body with separated head. The skeleton was put upside down if you know what I mean…

So, that’s all today. Tomorrow the last video of Season 3 (YT) is coming out and I will let you know what’s next in the post here on this blog.

Love, A.A.
