‘Riverdale’ & Film/Photography in 50s

I feel like new media is the main subject in the latest episode of Riverdale. I mean film and photography… So, I thought it’s the perfect time to talk about such things today! And I know it’s late but I had to buy my mom a new phone, you know!

We could see here all things that I like the most – literature (comic books/poetry), film, theater (and music), painting and photography… This new episode got cultural in so many ways! Just like my blog! It must be fate… Don’t worry, I’m just kidding!

Photography is a much older form of art than the movie but it’s actually the basis of it but not only… Because photography also inspired painting. I think about Cheryl while writing this but this is not the only example I know (some Polish painters worked the same way about 100 years ago). When we talk about paintings, then we’re not too far from comics since graphics is the half of it. The second part is storytelling and then we get literature and there was some poetry in this episode as well. And this way we’re back to movies and theater. Without the written word we wouldn’t have any films, plays or popular songs… Some may say it’s not art – pornography and burlesque but it’s not true – it’s made of scripts, acting and music just like those other things. And this way we realize that this episode is just all about culture – it shows many different kinds of art. And many times it was pictured in a funny way or was dead serious! And yes, what I’m trying to say is that new media is art too. And why did I highlight film and photography above all? Because those properties hit me the most. And that camera was just beautiful!

So, I really loved this episode and even though I watched in the morning, I can still remember it all well now… Well, I just love such things! I mean culture!

This weekend the second part of the throwback post will come but I won’t say when exactly because I got quite a lot to do! The month is ending and I’m going on holiday next Friday so it all means some duties…

Until the next time then!
