The Review of TDE Shows in Poland

Today post is about my latest musical experience that took place in October 2022. I’ve been to Cracow for the first show of The Driver Era and then I came back home to see them performing in my city Warsaw. It’s going to be some sort of review of those shows.

I’ve already been reviewing TDE’s music so let me remind you briefly who they are. It’s a band made of duo Ross & Rocky Lynch. At first there was R5. All the most important records by these two bands are: Louder, Sometime Last Night, New Additions EP, X, Girlfriend and Summer Mixtape.

When it comes to their shows, I’ve already been to five – in 2014, 2015, 2017 (I was a VIP for the first time; it was R5 era then) and twice in 2022 (I was a VIP in Warsaw; it’s TDE time now).

Maybe let me shows you two official photos that were taken during mentioned above VIP events now. This is the only band whose VIP I’ve ever been!

What I liked about those two shows is trying to make them look different because feeling like it’s all the same isn’t always good. But I also had a good kind of deja vu as well, I won’t be hiding it! I felt like it was 2014 again in Cracow. Whereas in Warsaw I was barely standing on my feet because I was so exhausted… I slept only 3 hours so…

I love the fact that few R5 songs were played, I love that many different songs from almost all records were played… It was the late Girlfriend Tour so there were 9 songs from that record but Summer Mixtape was already out so I regretted that there were not too many new songs… Only three! And 8 songs from X… If it was my choice, I would have kicked out few old tracks and replaced them with such ones like Bronco, Be Happening, Like a King, Turn the music up

To be honest, I was afraid that new band wouldn’t be as much rock & rock live like R5 but I’m happy to say that I was wrong! There were so many instrumental solos, playing with music and stuff… Even though it had to be practiced during rehearsals, I love that it felt so different from recordings and it was like it’s happening here and now. You could totally think those were real improvisations!

And now few words about covers. I think that someone’s song can be changed the way it would express who you are as an artist. There were not too many covers, just a Bruno Mars’ song Locked Out of Heaven which was there for a reason. Ross sang in one of his movies and TDE has a song entitled Heaven Angel so it feels like a right choice to me. The second song is not totally a cover because the main singer also sang in the film – On My Own. In addition, this song was written by R5! I think this kind of additions made the show only more valuable.

I guess that’s all so let me give you the playlist with all songs that were played during both shows.

Now you can watch the whole show from Cracow below.

And now few videos form Warsaw. I decided to take photos in Warsaw mainly and that’s why there are not two whole concerts. I think that one whole show is absolutely enough! And you can check out those photos on Instagram.

Update. There is a new video from the Season 3 where I talk about these two shows and you can check it out here:

So, that’s it. I hope you enjoyed this review! Tomorrow post will be about Nordic mythology in pop culture…

Greetings!
