I went last evening to the National Museum in Warsaw to see the temporary exposition called Solstice. Nordic Painting 1880–1910. I absolutely loved it and today I’m coming with photos of my favorite works of art.
There will be landscapes, waters, forests, gardens, screaming portraits, folklore, romanticism and animals. I hope you’re ready for this crazy ride!

That’s the part of the museum at night. My mom loved it and told me to take a picture so… Here it is!
Few of paintings were painted by women, and I can quite say that colors were more vivid and art was more delicate… I loved it!
Józef Mehoffer painted one of paintings that I could see there on the exposition. I saw his house in Cracow, and if you want more… Just check out my previous posts related to my last year trips to Cracow…
There was also the painting called Nocturne. It’s the sea and city lights at night… It was so lovely!
Melancholy painted by Edvard Munch was probably the highlight of the exposition. He pictured his mentally ill sister there… I think that room was the most screaming of all… I mean this part of exposition was about interiors and emotions.
There were also few folklore inspired paintings… I love folklore!
My dad knows all about clouds, and he said that one of paintings didn’t look like storm clouds… But it was called like that!
One of my favs now. The painting by Stanisław Witkiewicz, the creator of Zakopane style. Learn more by reading my previous posts about Cracow and Zakopane!
There were also few works of art painted by the Prince Eugen.
One day I will write a post about Nordic mythology as well… Just saying!
Few landscapes from Island… Yeah, this is what that exposition was made of…
I hope you liked my report. This little cultural walk was a pleasure to me, and I’m still shocked about how the museum was crowded then! I think I’ve never seen Scandinavian art, and I guess I’m not the only was who was curious about it… But I really recommend it. If you’re visiting Warsaw until 5th March, you can still see this exposition then. 50% off on Friday evenings! Just saying!
Tomorrow I will review 5SOS5 by 5 Seconds of Summer, so the musical theme is coming back for a while… I’ve been saying that it’s coming and this day has finally come! Who’s been waiting for it?
See ya tomorrow then!
A.A.
