When The Fairy Tale Starts To Be Political. ‘Carnival Row’

Today is a special day because not only Heaven by Niall Horan came out but also Carnival Row came back with the new final season.

The previous season amazed me with this mix that I’ve never even thought of – fantasy and 19th century. I take it personally because my two upcoming novels can be described like that. I obviously talk about Unknown Future – Your Destiny (coming in 2024) and Great Lady’s Diary (2025).

The ending of the Season 1 started to get political so it’s not a surprise that it’s the main subject now in the new season. But now the whole thing can be expected to be like that.

I can’t help feeling like World War II inspired creators of Carnival Row. The situation that can be seen here reminds me what Jewish had to face during the war, it reminds me the biggest ghetto in Warsaw and that uprising in 1943. If our fate is to die, let’s die like men of honor then – with weapon in our hands. This is what people believed in back then and that’s what people like Philo and Vignette believe in too.

But the situation of aristocracy is similar in Imogen’s opinion. This way we can find people here who simply want to be free in every possible way. But that’s not all. It’s also about the revolution that reminds me the year 1917. This way I think this series start to be a mash-up of XX century wars and affairs. It shows the moment of the sweet dream of 19th century in a fairy tale manner go away slowing. The new world is coming.

Also, the character of inspector reminds me of Sherlock Holmes! Both seasons are so clearly build on the structure of mystery… So, history, fantasy and mystery… That’s quite a mix!

And now few things that I don’t like about this series… I believe that Carnival Row would still look good without some bloody scenes, vulgarity and other type of 18+ content. I believe in clean art and this case is no exception to me. Because what’s the point in showing brutality and moments of creatures or people dying? What is it all for? There are different smoother ways to give the meaning that we – creators – want spectators to receive from our hands.

How did you like new episodes? Do you agree with my interpretation? Let me know commenting below.

So, today that’s all. Tomorrow post will bring the review of Summer Mixtape by The Driver Era.
