Places Worth Visiting in Kraków and Zakopane. Part 3

Kraków in October

The 6th visit of my life in Kraków was in October. It was a three days trip, but I had to go home early in the morning on the last day so I actually spent there only two days sightseeing. I also went for The Driver Era’s show. The post about their two shows will be coming soon.

At first I want to add few photos from the city and then we’ll discuss about museums, history and art.

This is the autumn version from the Planty. The park that replaced medieval city walls.

And now few photos of Wawel and the river Vistula.

The first place that I went to was Rynek Underground. That’s the downtown from Middle Ages that survived underground. It was one of those places I had been waiting for seeing impatiently and I highly recommend this place. It was truly fascinating! It’s about medieval stuff but it all was told in such a modern way. I mean visuals and lights. You can only understand what I mean when you go there.

You can see the road from Middle Ages there. Yes, the real road. You can see how the transport of goods looked like… Or see the reconstruction of the village. And what left of it when Mongols decided to come to Kraków in 13th century… Yep, these remains of wooden houses are real. Survived for your eyes to see and to tell you the story they saw…

There’s also the reconstruction of graves. If you like stories about witches and vampires, this section may be your favorite.

The greatest part of this museum is… Ruins of the first Sukiennice. That’s why this place is called Rynek Underground. If you don’t know what Sukiennice means… Well, it’s a place where you could buy anything. It’s such a market which history starts in Middle Ages. Also, the etymology says it’s the place where you could get sukno, i.e. textile, cloth. Thanks to my studies I was able to tell you so without checking it out… But of course I had to see if I was right…

Now I can tell you few words about things I saw the next day. I came back to see the last exposition from the Wawel castle then. It’s Art of the Orient. Ottoman Turkish Tents. How strange that we can hear about Turkey (and Syria) from news nowadays again… It’s truly devastating. Donate and help in any possible way if you can. And I can’t help thinking that it may be people’s fault that such a natural disaster came around… I mean the climate change.

There were three such huge tents… You must visit Wawel if you wanna see them!

Then you must go downstairs to see the second part of the exposition. It’s about the Battle of Vienna in 17th century when Jan Sobieski stopped Turkish expansion; art of Japan, China and the last chamber is showing also one of the oldest parts of the castle from the turn of 14th and 15th centuries. I loved that place the most probably.

In the evening I went for The Driver Era’s show. I’m adding here the only symbolic photo that I have. I wanted to record the whole show in Kraków, and I was taking photos in Warsaw.

So, that’s the end of trips to Kraków that took place last year. Will I go there one day again? Of course! I’d like to go for the Louis Tomlinson’s show in September. And there are still few more places that I’d like to visit… Kraków is honestly full of it. You need at least two weeks to see it all.

What about you? Did these three posts encourage you to go there too? Let me know commenting below.

New post is not coming in two days but… Tomorrow! I will try to post everyday next week. Let’s see if I can manage! The first post will be about Ed Sheeran’s show in Warsaw that took place last summer.

Greetings.
