The Review of ‘Rush!’ by Måneskin

If you’re a fan of Eurovision, then you’re just like me and this way you got to know the band Måneskin who won in 2021. I still remember the moment of victory… They’ve literally taken over each possible music chart, radio or playlist…

But let’s go back to the beginning. The band was founded in 2015-2016, a year later they appeared in Italian X Factor and this way their Italian fame has begun. In 2017 their first EP Chosen appears, then a year later debut album entitled Il ballo della vita comes out. In 2021 the second album Teatro d’ira: Vol. I and now the 3rd one has just arrived.

I won’t record the spoken version of the review until summer so all I can add here is the link to the album that I’ll be reviewing in a minute…

I always prepare my spoken reviews in form of questions & answers what can’t be seen and here I will do the same thing but it will be clearer, I guess…

  • How the title and cover are responding to each other and the content of the record?

The title is Rush! and I can kinda spot the feeling of rush in few tracks. It’s about situations when you do something faster than thinking it through but the title also fits the genre of the record. I mean Måneskin’s rock is a very energetic kind of rock. I can even say it’s simply fast. When it comes to the cover, we can see a dancer in the air. She’s frozen in time while the band is lying underneath her. The moment when the photo was taken makes this cover look as dynamic as the music it represents so I can totally say that everything fits perfectly here like three puzzles of one image.

  • What kind of genre is it?

The answer is simple. For me it’s enough to say just rock but you can also name it as an alternative rock or just modern rock.

  • What singles are promoting this record?

It’s Mammamia, Supermodel, The Loneliest, Gossip (feat. Tom Morello) and La fine. I feel like first three titles are quite recognizable while two other are definitely fresher. I love The Loneliest the most because it reminds me of the romantic German literature. I mean Sorrows of Young Werther by J.W. von Goethe. I swear I can hear how the main character of this book is singing this song or at least writing such a letter… I can feel tears in my eyes almost each time I listen to this track… The last Italian song is also cool. I don’t know Italian but this song sounds really cool though… When it comes to Mammamia, I believe this is the answer for the scandal from the Eurovision great final and Supermodel is like storytelling. Oh, and the message of Gossip is… strong. That’s all I can say.

  • What other songs can be called as favorites?

For me it’s Own My Mind, Timezone, Bla Bla Bla and Gasoline. The first song is like the invitation for a romance and it’s a perfect album opener. The second song is touching, romantic, beautiful but also very brave (if you know what I mean!). Bla Bla Bla is special because I’ve never thought that such sounds like ha ha, blah blah or no no could be so melodic. But well, I think nobody would like to get such a dedication… But anyway… The story sounds kinda funny! The last one is original when it comes to the sound. I think it’s the sound of engine in the lawnmower or chainsaw. It’s pretty long and ends in an instrumental way. So good! Definitively, this song is fire. All these songs are made of unforgettable choruses. I mean all these songs have been stuck in my mind lately.

  • What score does this record deserve to get?

I think that it’s the best of their records. Energetic, catchy and rock&roll is still alive. It’s a strong 8/10 for me.

  • What songs from the record can be placed in Top 5?

My Top 5 looks like:

  1. The Loneliest
  2. Own My Mind
  3. Gasoline
  4. Timezone
  5. Bla Bla Bla

I hope you liked the review. If I encouraged you to listen to it, then that’s absolutely my main goal. Let me know what you think about it commenting below. Share your Top 5 with me, don’t be shy!

The next post will be about the book this time – Girl Online Trilogy by Zoe Sugg.
