Temple of Divine Providence in Warsaw

I went to Wilanów last Thursday, and I’ll tell you more about the Temple of Divine Providence and the Museum of John Paul II and Primate Wyszyński today.

So, first of all, Wilanów is a district of Warsaw, the capital city of Poland. This place is known for the baroque palace from the 17th century, but there is one more place – quite new – that deserves visiting. That’s the Temple of Divine Providence.

There were plans to build this church in the 18th century after the passage of the Constitution on May 3rd, 1791. The problem is… A few years later, Poland disappeared from maps for 123 years!

After regaining freedom in 1918… Plans for building this temple appeared on the table again. But… World War II made it impossible again!

So, this monumental temple was built in the end after 225 years! That is crazy, I know! And I am truly amazed that my generation can finally see this church standing. And you can see it below too.

Do you wonder where the Museum of John Paul II and Primate Wyszyński is located? That’s literally on the top of it! I mean the dome. This way it’s probably the highest museum in Poland! Because it’s actually on the 8th floor…

If you remember the Polish Pope, and you want to learn more about him… Then you really need to go there. But it’s also about Primate Stefan Wyszyński. This way, this museum is about 100 years of our history.

Each Thursday it’s free! And I recommend visiting this place as early as possible. This trip took me and my mom 8 hours, and I think it wasn’t enough, really! But just the museum took us 5 hours of sightseeing… I’m still shocked by how huge that exposition was! But just the church is also impressive.

That’s all today. But I’ll be back tomorrow!

Love, A.A.
